An integral part of PHIMS (Public Health Information Management System), the Communicable Diseases suite of applications includes communicable disease reporting, investigations, targeted and ongoing surveillance as well as outbreak and case management capabilities.
Public health personnel are automatically alerted from confirmed or suspected cases of communicable diseases originated from confidential morbidity reports, laboratory test results, clinical diagnosis and other information submitted by healthcare providers in the community.
Relevant information is captured and simultaneously available to authorized users in a wide variety of pre-configured reports, charts and geographic maps to facilitate rapid investigation of each case. Information is easily exported and supports epidemiological and statistical analysis and facilitates the identification of disease outbreaks.
Extensive security features are included to protect the confidentiality of patient records in compliance with HIPAA requirements. Industry messaging and vocabulary standards including HL7, LOINC and SNOMED are used to automate the exchange of information with other systems and enable a more timely response to a potential public safety event.
The Communicable Diseases application enables a paperless system that is fully web based, flexible, quick to deploy, and easy to use. Available in a hosted environment or deployed on your servers, it streamlines the reporting and analysis of communicable diseases and improves the safety for your community.
