PHIMS (Public Health Information Management System) is a web based highly scalable and configurable software application that addresses a broad range of information management needs in a single integrated environment and forms the foundation for a community wide health information exchange (HIE) and Electronic Health Record (EHR).

It provides access to critical health information from any location using a standard, platform independent web browser interface and enables public health workers as well as healthcare providers throughout the community to collaborate, share data and rapidly identify and deal with public health incidents and threats. A major benefit of PHIMS is that it complies fully with HIPAA requirements regarding health information security and confidentiality and strictly controls who can view or modify data.
The system is based on the Microsoft .NET framework and Service Oriented Architecture(SOA). Its multi-tiered architecture and conformance with industry messaging (HL7, HIPAA ASC X12), vocabulary (LOINC, SNOMED, ICD, CPT), and data exchange (HITSP ISC-32 and IST 22) standards enables PHIMS to consolidate multiple silos of information, seamlessly exchange data with other systems and provide the key infrastructure for a secure health information sharing and exchange.
PHIMS is available either as a hosted service eliminating the need for maintaining complex IT infrastructure or it can be deployed at a customer’s site.
